COURSE SCHEDULE & CONTENT

The Tubing & Casing course is based on API 5CT & RP 5B-1: Threading and Gauging of casing ,tubing and line pipe threads. This course is intended for both new and experienced thread inspectors.

The Basic Gauge Measurement Instruction course for Tubing and Casing is designed to
introduce, familiarize and teach correct gauging techniques for the proper measurement of
tubing and casing threads utilizing equipment commonly found in the industry. The course is a
full day, eight hour course comprising four sections with a break for lunch.

The student is given a brief history of gauge use, a description of how the connections are used, definition and importance of each individual thread element, proper setting and measurement techniques on a variety of gauges across multiple manufacturers and the importance of proper gauging techniques followed by Instructor lead gauging of various threads in both passing and failing conditions.

We encourage end user companies to provide gauges and test pieces for their class participants to practice with during the course. Instructor will observe students as they adjust, zero and measure with the different thread element gauges. The GT instructor will advise class participants on proper gauge handling and measurement techniques to ensure the gauges are used to their full capability. For the final hands-on measurement examination, Gauge Training will send GT test pieces to the customer’s location to be used with their company gauges. The instructor will coordinate with the end user to set up a zoom call for the final hands-on examination. Each class will have two hours to complete the final hands-on examination via zoom. Upon completion, all final tests will be scanned and email to Gauge Training for grading. All class participants who participate in the zoom class will receive a “Certificate of Attendance” for making it through the entire presentation. All class participants who pass the final hands-on examination, with an 80% or higher, will receive a “Certificate of Completion” and a personalized API-U approved thread inspector ID card.

Testing is done on sample pieces supplied by Gauge Training Inc. Please contact us at Sales@gaugetraining.com to organize the delivery of sample parts. (Additional charges may apply)

Students are tested for understanding and implementation of lessons and then
graded to achieve passing completion of the course. Students are supplied with a Certificate of
Completion, an official API-U approved thread inspector identification card.
